Costume Planning

To create the affects we would like, we have to think carefully about the costumes our characters wear. We want the spirit to look evil, scary and intimidating and we want the girl to look like a typical teenager, as well as vulnerable, frightened and innocent.

The girl:
Our initial ideas show that we would like to have her dressed in bright coloured clothing. Blues, Greens, whites, light browns maybe. We would also like to have her in light blue jeans, as that is was typical teenagers of today would wear. We want her to be in bright/light coloured clothing because lighter colours, in a horror context, represent innocents, and the good in the film (usually).

The spirit:
She is the antagonist in the film, so, she will be dressed in dark clothing, typically. Dark colours, especially Black and Red, in a horror context, represent the unknown, as well as fear and the evil/bad in the film. We plan to have the spirit standing in the shadows, wearing dark clothing so that she is only just visible. She will be unrecognizable, but visible. This will provoke fear in the audience, as her intentions are unknown and she appears to be hiding.
